Designing for a Product That Does It All

KNVEY is a powerful, flexible digital experience platform used by teams to manage content, assets, products, documents, forms, portals, and more — all without code. That flexibility is a strength, but it also creates complexity: onboarding can feel overwhelming, workflows can become disjointed, and even experienced users can struggle to make full use of the platform.

My challenge as UX Lead was to help shape a product experience that made powerful things feel simple — for marketers, content creators, and product teams alike.

Real Use, Real Insights

Because I wasn’t just designing KNVEY — I was using it every day — I gained firsthand knowledge of its strengths, gaps, and UX friction points. I trained clients, guided onboarding, and supported marketing and internal product teams across dozens of use cases. That close contact gave me direct access to user feedback and patterns of struggle.

In parallel, I studied other CMS and DXP platforms to identify where KNVEY could differentiate and improve — focusing on clarity, discoverability, and speed.

Strategy, Systems & Iconography

In early 2024, I led a full design refresh of the KNVEY product interface. This included:

  • A new UI component system

  • Over 200 custom SVG icons, all optimized for clarity and consistency

  • UX writing and labeling improvements

  • Updated layouts for consistency across the platform

I also organized and led internal UX meetings with product and development teams to prioritize improvements and collaborate on feature rollout strategies.

Implementing and Road-Mapping Functionality

Much of my work has focused on improving and expanding existing functionality, including:

Launched UX Features

  • Product Management: A flexible product structure that supports multiple content types

  • Article Tools: Enhanced article writing with AI-assisted grading and editing

  • Library View Improvements: Quick-action buttons to reduce clicks and cognitive load

  • Tagging Workflow Redesign: In-place tag editing without jumping between modules

  • Bulk Uploading Tools: Improved data migration for new clients

  • Dashboard Task Management: Assignments and reminders surfaced clearly

  • CRM Features: User-friendly contact, lead, form, and email modules

In Development or On the Roadmap

  • KNVEY Posts: A built-in social media scheduler and content calendar

  • KNVEY Ecommerce: A native e-commerce system to rival Shopify

  • KNVEY Spaces: A shared workspace experience for document management and delivery

I’ve wireframed and scoped each of these, establishing the user flow, core interactions, and layout logic that inform future development.

Collaborating with Dev

I’ve worked closely with developers to hand off production-ready wireframes, interface specifications, and scalable icon assets. Because the platform leans heavily on SVG and custom markup, I frequently delivered optimized icons and UI assets directly into production workflows.

Every feature is designed with real-world use in mind — tested, refined, and delivered in a way that keeps developers moving and end-users confident.

UX That Enables Growth

Over the past four years, I’ve helped KNVEY evolve from a flexible platform into a truly user-focused one. Users now navigate faster, learn quicker, and complete tasks with less friction. The internal team has a more cohesive product direction, and the roadmap is grounded in real user needs — not just feature requests.

What I’ve learned is this: in a product as powerful as KNVEY, UX isn’t just a layer on top — it’s the glue that holds everything together. When you get it right, teams move faster, content gets better, and the product sells itself.
